One of my favorites readings about computing, hosted on Microsoft’s site, is The Unix-Haters Handbook. It reminds me the days of Linux as a desktop option. It describes some patterns of the strange people that (still) use Netscape browser.

Those kind of things just make me angry. On Windows XP Service Pack 2, you don’t have to do anything to get your computer protected - just let the Automatic Updates do the job. (Well, sort of. You should also get antiviral and firewall protection - you are warned constantly even by Microsoft.)
But David Berlind is complaining about some things he has to read on the Windows Update website. (more…)

How to use Themes in Windows 2000. Another Microsoft moment. Themes are usable in Windows 2000, at least as in Windows 98 Plus!, but they were hidden.

This thing pops as a Windows Update. I sought once a Tablet PC, never interacted with a user of these toys, I have no idea, why, if they want to interact with me, would send me Journal files (what do those contain?) without transforming them into a format that everyone reads. Why sould hundreds of milions of Windows users get Journal readers if the thousands of Tablet Pc can convert those into something readable? Did Windows Update just become an advertising place?
