So much for the RSS fancy readers

, desktop RSS readers had a short life. Often requiring bloated platforms such as .NET or Java or entirely written in snail languages such as Perl (see the Desktop Sidebar experiment I once was involved), those pieces of garbage didn’t had a chance to run on my old 500 MHz CPU.

You’ll say what about Linux users?. Trust me, I have filled a feature request at Gaim’s administrators on Sourceforge, but they (supposedly never seeing a Windows PC in action) replied quite unpolitely that alerts are not messaging (like IRC would really be!).
