Softpedia is fooling everybody, 100% guaranteed by me
Not many readers heard of the Softpedia seal “100% clean”. Some Romanian readers have read the interviews Softpedia founders and owners gave to the Romanian media like Evenimentul Zilei, where they say both that they would like better skilled employees, but they pay 300 dollars a month, while shamelessly evaluating their website at a few millions.
With 300 dollars a month, it is hard to keep even a good personal assistant in Bucharest these days, so no wonder that the seal comes together with a button to help you report spyware, which is also read “do our work”. Now, why would I report ad/spyware, when the software is supposedly certified by Softpedia as “100% clean”? Probably their pirated Lavasoft Ad-aware Pro copy stopped working, and you can see that they even certified Sopcast 1.0.1 as clean.

The crapware is actually downloading from the Internet advertisements both as movies and pictures (see C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Application Data\SopCast, you will find a lot of them), open unwanted pop-ups, keeps creating a file called Sopadver.exe, and does that even when you thought it has exited.
