Joost - Tivo killer, but not TV killer

I received the invitation to test Joost and I can say I am as disappointed as I expected to be. There’s no real TV, but a series of recordings. The offer is severely limited to some 20-30 sets of such clips. Outstanding stuff are the MTV, VH1, MoS video “channels”, and National Geographic, which probably go better with this format, since there is no serial link between the elements of their broadcast anyway. There are some sports, recorded since the Deluge, including some not-so-exciting, such as poker (???) and Indycar.
First thing when you launch it is a playlist. If you don’t choose anything it starts with an intro which, after 4-5 starts, can be annoying. The playlist is made of channels, and the channels are made of about 20 clips. The clips are always rendered in the same sequence, thus proving that one can make a series out of anything.

Each clip starts with ads that cannot be skipped since are like 3 seconds and your mouse wil not even move during such a short time and such a CPU consumption.

During the video, you can control some stuff or change the clip only if you are watching in full screen.

The funniest thing that you can get is a set of Arabic soap operas, with no translation provided yet.
